Mechanical Engineering

The department of Mechanical Engineering at NMREC had a modest beginning in August 2006 with an intake of 60 students. This was made possible, driven by the vision and foresight of our dynamic Secretary Sri Nalla Malla Reddy garu, who always felt that Mechanical engineers have a vital role to play in the manufacturing sector and the private engineering colleges should be committed to this cause, in spite of heavy investments and in the face of severe competition from other branches of engineering related to IT.

The Mechanical Engineering Department is one of the most reputed departments in terms of facility, faculty, students, and activities in the college. It continues to lead and expand its activities in various directions.

The department has well experienced faculty and staff members of proven ability with industrial and administrative skills. It has well equipped state-of-the-art laboratories that cater to the needs of the students.

The department is known for the Expertise in CAD-CAM, Manufacturing and Production Technology, I. C. Engines, and also in other core areas. Experimental and computational facilities are being continuously upgraded.

The students are actively involved in various reputed national level technical sympozia and technical competitions in various colleges and is credited number of titles to the department. The department has various student chapters like AME, SAE guided by faculty for the overall development of the students.

The department has been providing an excellent placement to students. The placement cell also facilitates the students for getting training in industries. Good number of Short Term training Programmes (STTP), Workshops and Seminars are also organised for students for sharing and updating their technical skills.


To create globally competent mechanical engineers capable of working in an inter-disciplinary environment, contributing to society through innovation, entreprenuership, leadership with professional ethics.


  • Produce Mechanical engineers with a strong theoretical and practical knowledge.
  • Enable to be productive members of inter-disciplinary teams, capable of adopting to changing environments of engineering, technology and society.
  • Inculcate critical thinking abilities among students and develop entrepreneurial skills, leadership qualities and innovative ideas.

  • Produce engineers with high moral and ethical values.


  • Prepare graduates to have knowledge in mathematics, science and engineering to develop problem solving skills necessary for the career advancement in mechanical and allied disciplines.
  • Prepare graduates to have strong practical and theoretical knowledge in Mechanical Engineering and allied disciplines, contributing to society through interdisciplinary research, innovation, entrepreneurial skills, and leadership with a global outlook.
  • Inculcate teamwork, communication, interpersonal skills and ethical approach adapting to changing environments of engineering, technology and society.
  • Impart critical thinking skills and to develop initiatives and innovative ideas for R&D, Industry and societal requirements.
